Legal and institutional mechanisms to ensure water security in Morocco

Abstract

Many studies and research suggest that Morocco is located in a region that, due to climate changes, will suffer from severe water resource failure in the mid-21st century. In view of this situation, Morocco has pursued a strong national water policy aimed at rationalizing the use of water, making universal use of water and remedying the disparities between cities and the Wadi within the framework of programmes aimed at achieving water security on the whole of the Kingdom's soil.
